About the Designer
Gina Bremer is a consultant with Slalom Consulting, LLC. She has built her career around her expertise and love for data visualization design and Tableau. Her journey in data visualization started shortly after earning her degree in Mathematics from the University of Washington. She was introduced to Tableau as a data analyst at PayScale, Inc, where she leveraged Tableau Public to tell stories with the PayScale data for journalism and content marketing purposes. With a fast and measurable impact on marketing, she quickly moved into a more targeted role as a Data Visualization Specialist where she honed her skills as a data storyteller and continued her growth by taking on managerial responsibilities in a lead role.
Her application of data visualization expanded from journalism and marketing to new business development with the creation of her automated PDF dashboard creation for a new analytical reporting program directed at university alumni departments. With the success of this application of Tableau, she was invited to speak at her local Tableau User Group, the Tapestry Data Storytelling Conference, and the 2016 Tableau Conference on the subject of data visualization automation. This began her transition into the world of business analytics, a field in which data visualization is rapidly growing and expertise is limited. Her ability to understand stakeholder requirements and business questions, to understand the mathematics and analytics behind the numbers, and design and present data in a way that tells an effective story has provided her continued opportunities for growth in the business intelligence world.
In addition to her career in data visualization, Gina has been active in the Tableau community and has been recognized as a Tableau Public Ambassador. Four of her public visualizations have been recognized as the Tableau Viz of the Day. Her community involvement extends beyond her online presence with her involvement leading and growing the Seattle Tableau User Group. She is now starting to grow the community in Bellingham as the leader of the new Bellingham Tableau User Group.
